Top journalism charity gives $15,000 to pro-abortion group
flockwoodAccording to its web site, The Freedom Forum is a nonpartisan foundation with “three priorities: the Newseum [a journalism museum in Washington], the First Amendment and newsroom diversity.”
So a few people are scratching their heads, trying to figure out why the organization, which has close ties to the Gannett newspaper chain, is giving $15,000 to the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League.
The gift is only one of several surprising donations made by the organization, according to Jim Hopkins’ Gannett Blog.

Once again, Frank, how do justify using the term “pro-abortion”? It just ain’t so.

The other gifts are even stranger; at least the pro-choice organization is a real political lobbying group. What about the $46,500 they gave to the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, of Melbourne, Florida, which charges tuition higher than they charged at Harvard when I was there? Or the $23,500 to the whale museum on some island off Washington? Or the $34,500 they gave to the United States Equestrian Team to help them teach horses to jump over things?
It appears that, for better or worse, this foundation was founded by the former Gannett executive to fund whatever he and his wife are interested in. They also appear interested in paying their executives unconscionably high salaries, according to the blog.

I would gues that this philantropy keeps both sides of a story going, regardless of what it appears on the surface, its about the the power of money.
