National Geographic’s cover story this month focuses on the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible. (You can read it here.)

It’s written by Adam Nicholson, author of God’s Secretaries, one of the best books available about the creation of the King James Version.

The photos by Jim Richardson are beautiful.

Nice article about a truly amazing work of art and scholarship. It’s ironic that because of its well-deserved popularity, the KJV discouraged other versions from being used even though some newer ones were easier to understand and were superior in terms of source material and translation.

One would think that any person that studies the Bible in depth, would chose to seek knowledge from whatever sources would be available. I can’t imagine that one would limit themselves to pertinent information, regardless of popularity.
