As opposed to Sarah Palin, who thinks she can see Russia from Wassila, Alaska? You can agree or disagree with Hilary, but at least she has served in the Senate, as first lady, and as Secretary of State. She ran a serious race for the Democratic nomination against Obama, and had the opportunity (which she blew) to win that race. Caribou Barbie was plucked from her well deserved obscurity by a desperate party because she was cute, something we'd never seen in a Republican candidate, and which wasn't good enough to win an election. Hilary, for better or worse, has been a serious politician, while Palin has not. And, after this flap blows over, Palin will crawl back into her tanning bed, while Hilary will still be Secretary of State.

I'd think it would be even harder to find material out of someone who slept their way to prominence and used that for a Senate bid. I mean, it's not like Hillary's ever actually accomplished anything.

Well, with Hilary at least the writer had lots of material; it's hard to gin up a book out of one failed vice presidential race, a bunch of white trash relatives, and a tanning bed. The amazing thing is that if you did, somebody would buy it.

More then likely, it was the same person who wrote Hillary's last one.

Its my understanding that Palin has the opportunity to increase her net worth by the time the next election rolls around. She has a book deal she can promote and the speaking circuit to tour. It could either put her in a better position too run for a national election or secure her family's economic future. It will be interesting to see what she does.

As someone who grew up in Alaska, I will be very relieved once Caribou Barbie steps down as governor. I hope this will prevent people from continuing to link Alaska and its wonderful people with the antics of this clown and her white trash clan.

David, one of the tragedies of American politics is the abandonment by the GOP of its original progressive mission. My family were charter members of the Republican Party, having been Unionists during the Civil War, but abandoned it in the 1960s, after it became clear that the party had turned against civil rights and progressive causes in general. Today it seems like the Republican Party is merely the party of opposition to anything remotely beneficial to poor people, or that would offend the religious right.

I'm not suggesting that the Democrats are necessarily better, but at least they're not Republicans.

As a card carrying member of the GOP (big surprise there, huh?), I think we can do better than Mrs. Palin in 2012, but I wish her well in whatever she chooses to do.

I don't think Ms. Barracuda has realized that her 15 minutes (or in her case 15 seconds) of fame is over. She will no more get the 2012 Republican Presidential nomination than I will, and if she does, she'll do about as well as I would in the race. One wonders who or what is really behind this; surely even the Republicans aren't desperate enough to think she can win a national race.
