Red, white, blue and green gay pro-Jesus loggers
flockwoodHere’s a weird story out of Big Sky country. It’s about a group, “The Green Coalition of Gay Loggers for Jesus,” that plans to march in Bozeman, Montana on Independence Day.
The Gay Loggers march is in response to the Tea Party march that is also scheduled for July 4, according to Montana’s News Station:
“[The green group's founder] said his organization currently does not include any loggers or homosexuals, but is open to anyone.”
Bozeman is the Berkeley of Montana and the home of Montana State University.

This is funny. Apparently the dissenting voices have fallen out amongst themselves, and it appears that the whole purpose of this parade is either to steal the thunder of, or to disrupt, the parade by the tea drinkers, who apparently have bobbled their application for a permit in some way.
My favorite part of it was the head tea drinker saying that the other group’s protest “wasn’t newsworthy.” Pot, kettle, etc.

Hmmm. “Gay loggers for Jesus”. Sounds like a gay porn title to me. By next year they’ll have their own pride parade.

There have been several Pride parades in Bozeman, and we are “proud” of our diversity. I do have to say that nobody around Bozeman even seems to know who this group is, although many of us do appreciate the contradictory nature of the group’s name.
Bozeman is not the Berkeley of Montana by any means — Big Box Churches, WalMart, and the craziest of our state’s Republican representatives are from Bozeman. Our university is dominated by the Engineering program — not exactly liberal arts — and our countryside is full of giant homes built by conservatives whose conservationist attitude only applies to other people’s land. The NIMBY syndrome is particularly prevalent here. Nobody can really figure out what this new activity is all about, but if I remember I’ll let you know how it turns out.
