Q. Why did the 7-year-old steal his family’s car?
flockwoodA. Because it was Sunday morning and he didn’t want to go to church.
I’m guessing somebody got a spanking after this was over.

Kinda makes you wonder what was going on in church!

I saw the whole family on the Today show this morning, which leads me to question whether it’s a good idea to essentially make a media star of this kid when what he needs is a good spanking.

Can you blame the kid? I mean, we (LDS) go to church for 3 hours every Sunday. I wasn’t that thrilled about it at the age of 7 either!
(I do agree with the media thing though, Caleb. No reason to make this his “15 minutes.)

And that’s what I think they were doing, David, giving him his 15 minutes, though he didn’t say much at all. I realize that when it’s not your kid the whole thing is funny, but to these parents, it’s their worst nightmare.

Oh, I agree. After a year, I still worry every time my son leaves the house in the driver’s seat and he’s 17. I can’t imagine how worried they were at the time, but I would have refused any requests for interviews had he been my child.
