The mainline Presbyterian Church had 4.16 million followers in the mid-1960s. Today, it has half that amount — 2.08 million adherents.

    I suppose that “collapse” is an appropriate word if membership size is the only important criterion, but The Good Lord surely has a different scale for measuring success (and faithfulness).
