Preacher arrested for saying homosexuality a sin
flockwoodIt’s ironic, isn’t it, that the nation that gave us the King James Bible is now criminalizing the very kind of speech contained within the Scriptures.
The Telegraph of London has the details.

Did the Brits give us the majestic KJV? Many folks say that it was handed down straight from the Almighty.

All I can say is that if the KJV was good enough for St. Paul, it’s good enough for me.

This is a typical case for misuse of power to intimidate freedom of speech to express religious believes. Is it secularism?

Sounds to me like he had a bad lawyer.

You know, when I saw there were 4 comments I thought to myself, “If any of the comments are from Jose or Caleb, rather than address the obvious issue of free speech, they’ll attack the KJV, the man’s interpretation of scripture, or something totally irrelevant to the point of the preacher’s rights.”
Something tells me that if this man were teaching, “Homosexuality is ordained of God,” and was arrested for the same you guys would have quite different thoughts…
Your points are well taken regarding when we received the KJV and your arguments against the sola scriptura doctrine. (You know I don’t believe that either.) However, they really are irrelevant to this particular article.

Posh. I was poking fun of Frank’s irony, and I was sincere in calling the KJV “majestic”. But I did not– and would not– side with those who muzzled this fellow, though he might be annoying.

Good to hear, Jose. I apologize for assuming you would. As for Caleb…I very much enjoyed his remark about St. Paul, but wonder also what “side” he’s on for this one…

Yeah, David, we’re easy to predict, just like it would be easy to predict the reaction of the Mormons to someone preaching in favor of gay marriage. For the record, this guy’s hate speech is probably protected by the guarantees of free speech, and I’d represent him in a minute, though no doubt he’s a right wing loon. That doesn’t mean that I discount the evil that homophobes do in the world.
