According to chapters 1 and 2 Satan was traveling back and forth to heaven so much that the other angels paid him no attention whatsoever. We are not given reason why he was allowed access to heaven, however in Revelation 12:7-8 the war ended his travels. Under the New Covenant, with the victory of the cross, Satan no longer has access to Heaven. Job in 1:5 offers burnt offerings on behalf of his children, an indication that his children are not as faithful to God as Job is. Although it has never been said to be a sin to do, this was all in vain, for each person must repent of his own accord. God instructs Jobs friends to do their own sacrificing and then have Job pray for them (42:8). This is a fore picture or shadowing of Jesus. Each person must repent of their own accord, and then Jesus, who is our mediator, will stand on our behalf before God, and God will hear him. God in his infinite wisdom used Job as a means to instruct all humans and Satan as well. God knows the future, Satan does not. God knew Jobs reaction before He questioned Satan about his servant. The message to all is that 'just and righteous' people go through trials and tribulation as a means to cleanse and purify us before we can enter the kingdom of God. It is also a declaration from our mouths and hearts to Satan and his minions that we, ourselves, acknowledge God as our father, and Jesus as our Savior. Satan would like to kill everybody, but God will not allow it, even though he does allow some destruction here. God is omni-present, Satan isn't, Satan is powerful, but not all powerful as God. God is all-knowing, Satan isn't. My personal belief, which mind you John, is only mine, and I could be wrong, but my belief is this, whatever happens, free-will of man, Satan petioning God, it's all for a greater purpose we weak mortals as myself can't always grasp, God can stop Satan, but Satan cannot stop God, God can take souls from Satan's kingdom through Christ, Satan cannot take God's property to Hell, if I didn't believe in this, I couldn't fathom why young people die, or why good people suffer. In all honesty, I don't understand the full spectrum, if I did, I don't think my little brain could handle it. I don't understand it all, but by God's grace, I can accept it.
