Death in the Motor City

A Pew Research Center survey asked Americans which of the nation’s 30 largest cities they’d like to live in.

Denver finished first. Detroit finished last. Only 8 percent of Americans said they’d like to live in metropolitan Detroit.

Read this extraordinary and horrifying story by Charlie LeDuff of the Detroit News and you’ll understand a little better why the Motor City is at the bottom of the list.

There aren’t any punch-lines to this story. It’s a tragedy from start to finish. And it’s told by one of the greatest reporters in America today.

I had read this before you posted on it, and was absolutely horrified. I’d like to think that wouldn’t happen in Lexington, but who knows . . .

This is absolutely appalling. The lack of compassion is disturbing. Kinda explains the downward spiral of the city, not enough people care.

There’s more to this story though. It seems the reporter, Charlie LeDuff was less than honest as well.
