   I had read somewhere that it desensitized you sexually, but this is bizarre! Wonder what the real message is?

   I think the real “message” in porn is twofold, first, that sex is entertainment, not intimacy, and second, that everyone can be “entertained” sexually without all the nagging little details attendant to intimacy. And this is far more subversive than the claim that watching porn turns you gay, because I think that what pornography really does is convince people that they don’t need to be in an intimate relationship of any character in order to have all the end of the world sex they want.

   And that ultimately subverts marriage, stable heterosexual and homosexual relationships, and our society as a whole, because it tends to break up families.

   What one man called art another calls porn. If there anyway to determine which what was detrimental to society, it should be banned. That’s just my opinion.

   One could say the same about romance novels, the equivalent of porn for many married women.

   Actually, saying all porn is gay porn is ignorant in more ways than one. The psychological basis for the two is completely different. Porn for straight men is fantasy fulfilment – they get to join a fantasy world where women have the same attitude towards sex as men. Porn for gay men, as far as I can tell, is just a record of gay men’s actual sex lives. The former is Lord of the Rings, the latter is an episode of Nova.

   Perp, it is not the object itself but how it is used or viewed. I enjoyed reading National Geographic as an adult and as an adolescent, but for very different reasons.

   Jose, its like a personality thing with people who view porn. Its the same with alcoholics and drug addicts and over eaters and under eaters. Its a part of the brain that justifies what you do regardless of the consequences.
