Canterbury: “No quick solutions” to Anglican divide
flockwoodConservative Anglicans who have waited seven years for the Archbishop of Canterbury to take action against the Episcopal Church better not hold their breath.
Archbishop Rowan Williams, in a message to traditionalists, says there will be “no quick solutions” to divisions exacerbated by the Episcopal Church’s election of an openly-gay bishop in 2003 and an openly-lesbian bishop in 2010.

“No quick solutions” actually means no solutions EVER. Just discernment, more discernment, still more discernment and additional discernment, all of which will discern that we need to keep discerning some more. Anything to keep Dr. Williams away from his bete noire. A difficult decision.

If anyone follows the path of successful inclusion of same sex activities into doctrine of Episcopal Church since its inception in sex revolution during 1960’s , they would find it is successful, because of favorable timing of State and Church Politics, not successful because of God’s will for Whom the Church is built. There is no quick fix when faith is mixed with state politics and Holy Spirit have no scope to play as a mediator.

I suppose just telling the schismatics to follow the same rules everyone else does won’t wash for some reason. As I’ve said in the past, I think the schismatics here are just like the sissies on the playground who want to go running to the teacher every time someone makes a face at them. Well, they’ve gone to the principal, and the principal — the Archbishop of Canterbury — has given them no relief. Now, they will simply go forward, breaking the rules as they do, and proclaiming themselves to be the “true” Anglicans, even though they have abandoned Anglican theology, and apparently Anglican polity too.

No quick action, just long slow decline.
