Many Christian bookstores look like Republican party outposts a lot of election years. There have been books like “The Faith of George W. Bush” and a whole shelf of books on the faith of Ronald Reagan. Former Reagan staffers Gary Bauer, William Bennett and Oliver North have had books, as have former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and former Nixonite Charles Colson. GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee and former VP Dan Quayle are also on the list.

But Democrats? They’ve been all but invisible at the Lifeways and Family Christian Bookstores of America. But that may be about to change.

A new book on Barack Obama’s faith is coming out. And it’s apparently positive. It follows a generally negative book called “The Faith of Hillary Clinton” that came out earlier this election cycle.

If the Obama book sells, we could be witnessing the birth of a new genre — Evangelical books targeted at Democrats…
